Registered Nurses play a crucial role in delivering patient-centered and high-quality care by effectively applying their clinical skills and professional nursing knowledge. Job Description

Essential Functions:

Performs the specified functions using the ANA Nursing Process (2010):

  • Acquires extensive information specific to the health of the healthcare user or their situation.
  • Examines the assessment data in order to establish a diagnosis or identify issues.
  • Specifies anticipated results for a tailored plan designed for the healthcare recipient in the given scenario.
  • Formulates a detailed strategy recommending actions and backup plans to achieve intended goals.
  • Carries out the established plan. Secures the patient's advancement following the plan.
  • The coordination of care pertains to orchestrating the administration of healthcare.
  • Implementing health teaching and health promotion involves utilizing techniques to foster health and maintain a secure environment.
  • The advanced practice registered nurse and nursing role specialist offer consultation to shape the determined plan, enhance the capabilities of others, and bring about change.
  • Evaluates the advancements towards outcome achievement.

Demonstrates consistency with the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010) in professional roles:

  • Enhances nursing practice by systematically improving its quality and effectiveness
  • Demonstrates the necessary skills and understanding reflective of current nursing standards
  • Assessing the conformity of one's nursing practice with professional standards, guidelines, and applicable legal requirements
  • Connects with and assists in the advancement of fellow professionals
  • Coordinates with patients, family, and others in the performance of nursing practice

  • Registered Professional Nurses must adhere to the regulations and standards set by the state in which they practice, ensuring that their care is in accordance with the laws and guidelines enforced by regulatory and certifying organizations.
  • Upholds the ethical standards as established in the Code of Ethics for Nurses by the ANA in 2010.

Demonstrates proficiency in the use of appropriate technology and software to:

  • Assist in recording nursing interventions and monitoring patient well-being.
  • Leverage the different work-related applications necessary for being an active and collaborative member of the organization, like utilizing company email systems, engaging with iLearn modules, participating in employee engagement surveys, exploring details about benefits and compensation, and understanding organizational policies and procedures.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
