Job Description

Essential Functions:

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform the following functions:

  • Collects detailed information that is important for understanding the healthcare consumer's health and situation.
  • Assesses the evaluation data to identify the diagnosis or challenges.
  • Specifies anticipated effects for a customized plan personalized to the healthcare individual.
  • Designs a comprehensive outline proposing strategies and alternatives to achieve expected results.
  • Executes the outlined plan effectively. Ensures patient advancement follows the plan accordingly.
  • Care Management oversees the organization of care distribution.
  • Techniques are utilized in health teaching and health promotion to enhance health and maintain a safe setting.
  • Consultation conducted by the advanced practice registered nurse and nursing role specialist focuses on influencing the identified plan, improving the skills of others, and effecting change.
  • Examines the advancement in reaching desired outcomes.

  • Systematic enhancement is prioritized to elevate the quality of nursing care
  • Obtains the expertise and competency required for today's nursing care
  • Assessing one's nursing practice in relation to professional standards, guidelines, and statutory requirements
  • Interacts with and makes contributions to the professional advancement of colleagues
  • Engages in partnerships with patients, families, and other relevant parties in carrying out nursing tasks
  • Ethical guidelines are systematically applied in diverse areas of practice
  • Adapts research findings for application in practice
  • In the planning and delivery of nursing services, factors such as safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice should be carefully evaluated
  • Provides leadership within the professional context and the industry as a whole
  • Following practices that are conducive to a safe environment and a healthy lifestyle
  • Affirms the goals, vision, and values of Monument Health.
  • In accordance with the regulations of the state in which they practice, a Registered Professional Nurse is required to provide competent care that aligns with the standards, policies, laws, and certifications mandated by accrediting organizations and regulatory bodies.
  • Honors the principles outlined in the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA 2010).

Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to:

  • Assist in documenting patient care and nursing tasks.
  • Utilize key work-related software that is crucial for being an engaged and active employee within the organization, such as company email, iLearn training modules, employee engagement surveys, details on benefits and compensation, and company policies and procedures.
  • Eagerly pursues avenues to elevate the quality of patient care delivery by utilizing innovative and imaginative approaches to solve problems.
  • Handling any other duties as directed.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
