Job Description

Essential Functions:

Follows the ANA Nursing Process (2010) procedures to complete the assigned functions:

  • Acquires in-depth data that is significant to understanding the healthcare consumer's health and circumstances.
  • Interprets the assessment data to establish the diagnosis or recognize the concerns.
  • Define the projected achievements for a tailored approach focused on the healthcare consumer in question.
  • Prepares a framework that proposes strategies and choices to reach desired goals.
  • Adheres to the implemented plan. Ensures the patient's progression on the plan.
  • Care coordination focuses on integrating the delivery of healthcare.
  • Health education and health promotion implement measures to support wellness and establish a safe environment.
  • Advanced practice registered nurses and nursing role specialists participate in consultation to provide guidance that shapes the established plan, strengthens the competencies of others, and facilitates change.
  • Evaluates the success in reaching established outcomes.

Acts in agreement with the ANA Standards for Professional Performance from 2010:

  • Systematically raises the standards and effectiveness of nursing services
  • Demonstrates competency and knowledge that are in accordance with present nursing protocols
  • Comparing individual nursing practice to professional standards, guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations

  • Works jointly with patients, families, and other associates in the implementation of nursing procedures

  • In delivering care, a Registered Professional Nurse ensures that their practice adheres to the laws and regulations of the state and the standards set by accrediting and certifying organizations.
  • Complies with the ethical guidelines established in the Code of Ethics for Nurses published by ANA in 2010.

Shows adeptness in using relevant technology and software to:

  • Aid in recording and tracking nursing activities and patient treatment plans.
  • Gain access to various work-related platforms necessary to be an active and engaged associate of the organization, such as corporate email systems, iLearn modules, employee engagement surveys, information on benefits and compensation, as well as policies and procedures.
  • Dedicated to improving the quality of patient care delivery through innovative and creative problem-solving methods.
  • Willingness to perform any other tasks as deemed necessary.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
