Job Description

Essential Functions:

Conducts activities in alignment with the ANA Nursing Process (2010) approach:

  • Gathers exhaustive information that is crucial to the healthcare consumer's health status or situation.
  • Assesses the evaluation data to determine the diagnosis or address the issues.
  • Anticipate the potential results of a customized plan developed for the healthcare recipient.
  • Develops a scheme that offers tactics and alternatives for achieving intended outcomes.
  • Carries through with the identified plan. Ensures the patient's evolution along the plan.
  • Coordinating care involves harmonizing healthcare services.
  • The goal of health teaching and health promotion is to advance health and ensure a secure environment through specific strategies.
  • In consultation, advanced practice registered nurses and nursing role specialists advise to influence the designated plan, enhance the abilities of others, and drive change.
  • Tracks the progress towards the achievement of intended goals.

Conducts professional duties in accordance with the ANA Standards of Professional Performance set in 2010:

  • Increases the quality and effectiveness of nursing care through structured improvements
  • Acquires skills and understanding that reflect the current landscape of nursing practice
  • Evaluating personal nursing practice in light of professional standards, guidelines, and statutory regulations
  • Connects with and promotes the professional growth of colleagues and associates
  • Partners with patients, their relatives, and relevant individuals in the provision of nursing services
  • Ethical standards are interwoven into the fabric of every practice realm
  • Embedding research outcomes into practical applications
  • The planning and delivery of nursing services involve evaluating factors such as safety, efficacy, cost-effectiveness, and impact on daily practice
  • Provides leadership in both the professional practice setting and the broader profession
  • Observing protocols that prioritize both environmental health and overall wellness
  • Promotes the goals, vision, and values of Monument Health.
  • A Registered Professional Nurse practices within the legal parameters of the state in which they are employed, ensuring that the care provided is in line with the standards and policies dictated by accrediting and certifying bodies.
  • Adheres to the ethical standards set forth in the Code of Ethics for Nurses created by the American Nurses Association in 2010.

Efficiently incorporates appropriate technology and software for:

  • Support the documentation of nursing procedures and patient care interventions.
  • Utilize a variety of work-related applications essential for being an enthusiastic and involved team member within the organization, like company email systems, iLearn training modules, staff engagement surveys, information on benefits and salaries, as well as organizational regulations.
  • Always looking for opportunities to enhance patient care by implementing innovative and inventive solutions to challenges.
  • Be open to taking on further responsibilities as directed.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
