The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver both direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory setting. Under the supervision of a physician or Registered Nurse (RN), the LPN provides nursing care to assigned patients and accepts delegated tasks to meet patient needs. The LPN delivers care in line with Monument Health's policies and procedures, professional standards, the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act, and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting agencies.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

• Follows clinic protocols to arrange the examination and treatment rooms appropriately.
• Executes the necessary steps for preparing patient rooms which encompass taking vital signs, collecting information, and fulfilling other relevant duties as outlined for the clinic context and within defined Scope of Responsibilities.
• Effectively manages and logs individual doses of medications/immunizations as outlined by clinic regulations post satisfactory training and competency demonstration.
• Administers EKGs and carries out laboratory examinations as authorized by the clinic's CLIA license post completing necessary training and proving competency.
• Ensures that the documentation in the patient record is precise, coherent, and brief within the defined Scope of Responsibilities. Has the potential to act as a provider scribe once adequately trained.
• Performs all allocated office tasks and supervises the maintenance and purchasing of supplies according to guidelines.
• Helps with scheduling future healthcare visits and follow-ups according to provided directions.
• Issues pre-designed patient educational handouts. Guides patients to consult the provider or RN for any queries they may have.
• Responsibilities outlined in the Monument Health documentation for functions.
• Any further tasks as required by supervisors.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursingCertification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
