As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, operating in the inpatient services area, you will provide direct care to patients of all ages, birth through geriatric, to enhance the physical health and functional abilities. You will also carry out operational duties for the Rehab Services Department as needed.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Shows appropriate critical thinking and discernment in delivering care. Executes all treatment procedures according to recognized national, institutional, and evidence-backed protocols. Delivers therapy that fulfills or surpasses departmental outcome expectations.
  • Fulfilling documentation requirements promptly and accurately to establish medical necessity in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Demonstrates adherence to departmental productivity guidelines through effective time management and submission of accurate billing information.
  • Exhibits proactive behavior in individual professional development. Successfully meets all educational obligations set by Monument Health and for licensure/certification in a timely manner. Actively promotes the profession within Monument Health and to the community.
  • Engages and instructs the patient, family, and caregivers about treatment, goal setting, and discharge organization when suitable.
  • Adheres to the established occupational therapy care strategy and coordinates with the main occupational therapist regarding any amendments or difficulties experienced with the care plan.
  • Adheres to insurance, accreditation, and national and state regulatory specifications.
  • Conducting any other delegated duties.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Occupational TherapyCertification - Occupational Therapist (OT) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Occupational Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
