As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant operating in the inpatient services area, you will be responsible for providing direct care to patients belonging to all age groups, from birth to old age, with the goal of improving their physical well-being and functional abilities. Additionally, you will carry out operational tasks for the Rehabilitation Services Department as required.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Displays suitable critical thinking and discernment in offering care. Carries out all therapy aspects in adherence to accepted national, institutional, and evidence-backed standards. Delivers therapy that aligns with or exceeds departmental outcome expectations.
  • Completing paperwork punctually and accurately to validate medical necessity as outlined by department standards.
  • Demonstrates efficient time management skills meeting the department's productivity criteria.
  • Exhibits proactive behavior in personal professional growth. Ensures timely completion of all education mandated by Monument Health and for obtaining licensure/certification. Actively participates in promoting the profession within Monument Health and in the community.
  • Engrosses and informs the patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, goal setting, and discharge organization when required.
  • Adheres to the established occupational therapy treatment schedule and collaborates with the chief occupational therapist regarding any changes or challenges encountered in the care plan.
  • Adhering to insurance, accreditation, and national and state regulatory protocols.
  • Completing all assigned tasks, including extra responsibilities.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Associates degree or equivalent OR graduate of accredited program for Occupational Therapist Assistant

Certification - Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT)

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Related Experience

Certification - Licensure through SDBMOE - Accredited University or accredited training professionals

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
