Race Day will be held on September 24th at Terry Peak Ski Area.
Registration: 7 a.m. – 8 a.m.
Course Options:
Short Course – 2.5 miles long with 750 feet of ascending.
Race start: 8:45 a.m.
Begin at Stewart Lodge. Head up Little Phil gravel road to connect with Big Surprise bike trail. Drop along the railroad grade, taking the right-hand side when the road forks and comes back together. Run through the rock cutaway, which may or may not be dry in September. Veer right onto Terry Cut-across, joining the Little Hope bike trail (cross Hobo Queen and Homestake and zig-zag your way up Empress and Little Hope) to reach the summit/finish. See Terry Peak Map.
Long Course – 7.5 miles long with over 3,750 feet of elevation change.
Follow the 2.5 mile run route to the summit for Loop #1. Proceed around the Surprise Lift station and proceed down Big Surprise bike trail all the way down to again follow the 2.5 mile route to the summit for Loop #2. Upon reaching the summit for the second time, proceed down Whale Fin bike trail (down Surprise, veering right onto Gold Run) to start Loop #3. Run through the rock cutaway again, and before Terry Cut Across, take a hard right to climb Dark Horse bike trail up to the summit/finish. See Terry Peak Map.
Race start: 8 a.m.
Post-race lunch: 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Race Awards: 10 a.m. – trophies will be awarded to the age groups ranging from 18 & under to 70 & above.
Fee:
Short Course: $30 includes a swag bag and meal ticket – extra meal tickets will be available for purchase for non-racers.
Long Course: $40 includes a swag bag and meal ticket – extra meal tickets will be available for purchase for non-racers.
Hops & Hogs + Course of Choice: $75 includes a swag bag and meal ticket, and a ticket into Deadwood’s Hops and Hogs event. Must be 21- All Hops & Hogs participants have to attend event registration in person to be ID’d and get a wrist band.
