Job Summary

The Medical Staff Assistant will perform duties to support the Medical Staff Services department in meeting all regulatory and accreditation standards of the Joint Commission, CMS, ACCME and NCQA. This position should be familiar with Excel Spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Virtual Meeting software’s, the credentialing process and associated software, medical staff committee support, Medical Staff Call Schedules, and Medical Staff orientation. Provides support to the Medical Staff Members and Departments as needed.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Management of provider expirables to meet Joint Commission, CMS and NCQA accreditation standards.

  • Inform all applicable parties of access suspension when a provider does not meet the maintenance of their credentialing requirements.

  • Submit all updated expirable information to payers to maintain enrollment and prevent denial in claims.

  • Verification of all outside ordering and referring providers to ensure that the providers have an active license, NPI and not no sanctions or exclusions. All potential noted items are reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if the provider is eligible.

  • Medical Staff Committee meeting management – working with the committee chairs to develop agenda and PowerPoint presentations. Will also compile meeting minutes.

  • Maintain CME accreditation standards for MHRCH in conjunction with the Medical Education Committee. 

  • Maintain Intelliweb call schedules – ensure that all providers that are on the call schedule maintain credentialing requirements, ensure that call schedules are filled to fulfill hospital EMTALA obligations.

  • Complete initial paperwork for Medical Students, residents, fellows, and shadowing students – Ensure all orientation items are complete and work with the school program and Monument Health legal team to have a completed agreement on file.

  • Provide administrative support for the VPMA, Executive Surgical Director and Surgery Department Chair this includes but is not limited to memos, meeting set up, minutes and presentations and daily scheduling.

  • Once providers are granted privileges will provide Medical Staff orientation to new providers.  The orientation process includes information and review of the following topics: Monument Health Mission, Medical Staff Directory, Setting up Epic Training, Utilization Review, Safety and Security, Compliance, Confidentiality, General overview of Bylaws and Governing Documents, and Facility and Badge access.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years Medical Staff Experience

Physical Requirements:
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
