Job Summary

Takes a leadership role in executing effective and efficient procurement and supply chain software services for Monument Health, ensuring values and competencies in maintaining transparency, integrity and compliance with established rules and regulations. Leverages expenditure data and utilization trends to assist in the identification of potential quality improvements and cost savings. Effectively monitors vendor contracts; assists in the vendor selection, evaluation, and analysis process to ensure that products and services are cost effective and of the highest quality.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Systematically conducts, assesses, manages, and supervises the procurement process for operating supplies and equipment. Regularly coordinates with organization stakeholders to meet supply requirements.
  • Manages and develops protocols concerning order processing, product and supplier selection, backorders, invoice discrepancy, and resolution processes.
  • Provides education opportunities to caregivers regarding proper utilization of the supply chain information systems and processes. Staff should have a clear understanding of item master maintenance, purchase order processing, security procedures, etc.
  • Properly prioritizes work assignments related to purchasing responsibilities as well as improvement initiatives so all duties are completed successfully.
  • Monitors caregiver performance to ensure caregivers are meeting organizational standards. Provides evaluations of all caregivers using approved job descriptions and organizational policy guidelines.
  • Utilizes supply chain systems to provide analysis relating to cost saving identification, vendor performance, supply standardization, usage patterns, contract compliance, etc.
  • Collaborates with departmental leadership to continually monitor approved vendor performance, ensure each department's supply needs are fulfilled, and develop initiatives to streamline the procurement process.
  • Effectively negotiates with approved vendors to maximize cost reduction opportunities using internal and external pricing information and performance benchmarks.
  • Develops an annual Expense Reduction Plan that provides detailed analysis consisting of cost reduction opportunities, strategies to exploit said opportunities, and projected cost savings.
  • Collaborates with legal counsel and other experts to review all supply and equipment contracts to ensure the terms and conditions of each contract are acceptable, stated accurately, and are in line with the hospital's policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the ongoing maintenance of the supply chain information system item file via data cleansing routines and data entry discipline, thus ensuring a high degree of data integrity throughout the systems.
  • Oversees the contract master file of supply chain supplies and service contracts, monitoring contracts ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Uses benchmarking and utilization reports to objectively assess both the services provided departments and the progress of improvement initiatives.
  • Develops requests for proposal, coordinates vendor responses, and leads objective and structured assessment of vendor bids.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Education - Bachelors degree in Supply Chain or Related Field

Experience - 1+ years of Procurement/Buyer Experience; 1+ years of Supply Chain Management Experience; 3+ years of Healthcare Experience; 3+ years of Supervisor Experience
Education - Masters degree in Supply Chain or Related Field

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
