Job SummaryAs the Manager of the Cath Lab, you will be joining a state-of the art, 300+ patient bed, Level II Trauma Center hospital that provides advanced specialties and 24/7 emergency services. Day to day functions of the Manager of the Cath Lab include:
• Plan, organize, budget and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and
accreditation and/or certification of Cardiac Services Cardiac
Catheterization, Electrophysiology and Hybrid Laboratories.
• Ensure that the departments meet the mission and goals of Rapid City
• Promote divisional and departmental goals and objectives in accordance
with established policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Medical Director of the services to develop
competencies, productivity measures, and monitors and insures
appropriateness of inpatient and outpatient cardiac and electrophysiology
• Work with the Administrative Director of the cardiovascular service line
along with the Medical Director to assure patient outcomes meet
expectations, staffing needs are met, and financial objectives of the service
line are achieved.

●Establishes capital and operational budgets. and monitors adherence to the budgets.
●Is attentive to monthly operating performance, working to stay within budget and makes decisions based on variations from the budget. This includes expanding staff and supplies when growth exceeds budgeted and retracting staffing and supplies if demand is less than budgeted.
●Work alongside staff, patients, and physicians to understand all processes and issues involved in patient care for complete customer satisfaction results.
●Manages communications between staff, physicians and RCH operations. This process involves keeping everyone informed of changes, equipment education, safety updates, patient care issues, decision support, ancillary department intermediary, etc.
●Manages product, procedures, staffing and equipment costs and maximizing the labs' effectiveness for cost containment and saves (i.e., active promotion of cost effective unit operations).
●Physician advocate when dealing with the day-to-day operations and change updates. Attend QA/QI, section meetings, POC, Appropriate Use, etc. Relay important information to all entities involved in the labs.
●Incorporate current research projects, new interventions, and technological advances into practice.
●Gather statistical data for reporting to administration and physicians for effectiveness, budgetary, and trending purposes. Review budgetary variances to assure appropriate use of resources.
●Incorporation of regulatory mandates into laboratory practice, and demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of professional practice in the labs.
●Personnel issues, to include interviewing applicants and hiring qualified laboratory staff.
●Staffing units to ensure 24 hour coverage appropriate to patient care needs. Conducting timely and periodic performance appraisals based on pre-established standards, and following up appropriately. Counseling individual staff and taking corrective action as delineated in policy when necessary. Identifying and planning for developmental needs of staff.
●Must fulfill annual continuing education requirements of department including competencies on doing procedures and operating equipment
● Must attend educational programs as required by department and hospital policy and attend conference in related areas of Healthcare management
●All other duties as assigned.
Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing
Certification - Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
Experience - 1+ years of Management Experience; 3+ years of Cardiovascular Experience; 3+ years of Cardiovascular Medicine Experience; 3+ years of Rehabilitation Experience, 5+ years of Cardiac Nursing Experience
Certifications - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); American College of Cardiology Nursing Member (ACCN) - Accredited University or accredited training professionals
