Job Summary

Assists the Director of Clinical Services in management of multi-specialty clinic to assure safe and effective patient care is delivered by supervising the clinical staff as they assist the providers within the system. Manages and/or mentors other Nurse Managers in their job functions.

Job Description

Essential Functions: ●Actively participates in formulation, review, and revision of hospital/nursing/unit specific policies and procedures as evidenced by observation. ●Actively works to reduce operating expenses by improving processes, products, services, customer service and reduction in cycle time. ●Arranges and facilitates staff meetings. ●Assists employees in developing strategies to address issues that are identified; provides ongoing re-evaluation. ●Assists employees in meeting education requirements, safety requirements mandatory training, career planning and mentoring. ●Assists the Department Director/Manager in the effective fiscal management of the department. ●Assists with quality improvements and maintenance of departmental/patient/visitor/physician and employee safety. Assures that quality control requirements are met per hospital and departmental policies. Monitors and observes accuracy of Pyxis reports, blood glucose system monitoring, refrigerator and blanket warmer temperatures, and crash cart checks and any other pertinent monitoring specific to the department. ●Directly supervises, hires, terminates, and evaluates work performance of LTC nursing department staff (RN’s, LPN’s, HUC/med aids, and CRA’s). Develops subordinates by direct teaching, coaching, guidance, and by recognizing needs for staff development. ●Ensures that staff are inserviced on new equipment and procedures for specialty as evidenced by observation. ●Functions as a liaison between patient, family, unit staff, physician, and ancillary personnel. Facilitates collaboration between patients, family physicians and members of the Healthcare team. Rounds on patients and families; responds promptly and professionally to customers addressing requests, problems and concerns. ●All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required: Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing Certification - Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Preferred: Experience - 1+ years of Ambulatory Experience; 1+ years of Management Experience; 1+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Physical Requirements:
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
