Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Required to start up the CBW (Continuous Batch Washer) in the morning, entering correct date and pertinent information, and shut down the CBW, following proper procedures, on a rotating basis.
  • Required to pre-sort all linens as they are received in the laundry in a timely manner. Must maintain a constant and consistent flow of linens to the CBW.
  • Required to check computer screens at conveyor and at the end of dryer line, enter proper linen wash codes and be able to troubleshoot error messages when alarm sounds.
  • Required to start up spreader, iron and folder and shut them all down properly at the end of shift. Also required to know the proper settings of all switches to match the linen being processed.
  • Checks with coworkers/supervisor/technician II on a regular basis to assure proper linens are being processed to meet any special requests and all scheduled deliveries.
  • Required to fill outside orders correctly and neatly and to complete paperwork for each account.
  • Required to post-sort and fold clean tumble-dried linen as needed, and in a timely manner, to maintain necessary linen flow and prevent excessive wrinkles in linen from sitting in carts for prolonged periods of time.
  • Required to phone the main hospital and outside accounts to inform them of delays.

  • After sterilization process, consistently and accurately transfers sterile items to the sterile storage area, rotates supplies, and safeguards the integrity of sterile supplies through proper handling.
  • Accurately assembles decontaminated individual items, instruments, and trays. Accurately completes count sheet, tray menu, indicator strips, and sterilizing tapes as evidenced by observation and documentation.

  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of other dietitians, health coaches, providers, and physician.
  • Assesses and systematically implements individualized appropriate nutrition education for patients/families. Conducts comprehensive patient/family teaching. Provides educational resources for patient and family. Updates and develops new teaching materials as needed.
  • Adjusts diet according to patient’s needs taking into consideration allergies, intolerances, lifestyle, psychosocial, and educational factors.
  • Assesses and systematically implements individualized appropriate nutrition education for patients/families. Conducts comprehensive patient/family teaching. Provides educational resources for patient and family. Updates and develops new teaching materials as needed.
  • Evaluates clinical data as to normal vs. abnormal parameters.
  • Completes documentation of Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Conducts group nutrition classes. Instructs at a level the participants and family can understand. Updates classes, arranges for samples, and provides recipes.
  • Documents medical nutrition therapy and nutritional care for clients to ensure their records are complete and information about the client is available.
  • Assists patient in establishing and monitoring goals. Works collaboratively and communicates with staff to improve patient outcomes.
  • Monitors and modifies client care plan to ensure appropriate client services are delivered.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    Additional Functions in Ambulatory/Outpatient Setting:

  • Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients encompassing screening for nutrition risk and all steps of the nutrition care process as appropriate.
  • Completes nutrition counseling and education with both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Monitors patient/family response and progress.
  • Evaluates if expected outcomes have been achieved; communicates patient progress to the patient, family, physician.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education – Bachelors degree in Dietetics
Certification – Licensed Nutritionist/Dietitian (LN) – South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners; or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) – Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Preferred:
Experience – 1+ years of Healthcare Experience1+ years of Clinical Experience
Education – Masters degree in Dietetics

Physical Requirements:
Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
