Job Description

Essential Functions:

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform the following functions:

  • Gathers comprehensive data that is significant to the health status or situation of the healthcare recipient.
  • Assesses the assessment findings to pinpoint the diagnosis or issues at hand.
  • Describes the envisaged impacts for a specialized program tailored to the healthcare consumer in the specific context.
  • Devises a proposal that suggests strategies and options for achieving expected outcomes.
  • Implements the recognized strategy. Ensures patient development throughout the strategy.
  • Coordination of care involves synchronizing various aspects of care delivery.
  • Strategies in health teaching and health promotion are employed to boost wellness and create a safe space.
  • The consultation services provided by advanced practice registered nurses and nursing role specialists seek to impact the established plan, enhance the capabilities of others, and foster positive transformations.
  • Analyzes the development in reaching the expected outcomes.

Follows the ANA Standards of Professional Performance (2010):

  • Enhances nursing practice by implementing systematic improvements
  • Gains competence and awareness that align with the current state of nursing practice
  • Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations
  • Connects with and supports the professional enrichment of peers and team members
  • Involves patients, their families, and other stakeholders in nursing activities to promote shared decision-making
  • Ethical considerations are present in every facet of professional activities
  • Combining research insights with hands-on application
  • In the planning and provision of nursing care, it is important to assess how these services will impact the overall practice and workflow of healthcare professionals
  • Demonstrates leadership in professional practice and the profession as a whole

  • Within the legal framework established by the state, a Registered Professional Nurse delivers competent care that complies with the standards, policies, laws, and regulations set by accrediting organizations and regulatory bodies.
  • Complies with the provisions of the Code of Ethics for Nurses according to the American Nurses Association (2010).

Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to:

  • Support nursing activities and the documentation of patient care.
  • Stay connected with essential work-related tools to play an active role in the company's operations and establish yourself as an engaged employee; this may include utilizing company emails, participating in iLearn courses, sharing feedback in employee surveys, gaining insights into benefits and compensation details, and acquainting yourself with organizational rules and procedures.
  • Consistently endeavors to improve patient care delivery quality by employing innovative and creative solutions to address challenges.
  • Any further obligations given.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
