Job Description

Essential Functions:

Functions within the guidelines of the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Obtains thorough and relevant information about the health and context of healthcare clientele.
  • Utilizes the evaluation of assessment data to specify the diagnosis or particular issues.
  • Enumerates the predicted consequences of a tailor-made plan tailored to healthcare end-users.
  • Forms a strategy laying out methods and decisions to achieve projected results.
  • Carries out the designated strategy in practice. Observes the patient's progress according to the outlined plan.
  • Care coordination involves the systematic arrangement and management of healthcare services to promote collaboration among healthcare providers.
  • Educational initiatives for health and wellness promotion - encompass strategies for enhancing health and safety provisions.
  • Through consultations, the advanced practice registered nurse and nursing role specialist aim to influence the specified strategy, develop the proficiencies of others, and enact change effectively.
  • Witnesses the advancements in attaining predefined objectives.

Abides by the ANA Standards of Professional Performance from the year 2010:

  • Systematic measures are taken to improve the efficiency and quality of nursing practices
  • Acquires knowledge and skills that are in line with the latest trends and improvements in nursing practice
  • Inspecting the consistency of nursing practice with professional standards, guidelines, and legal regulations
  • Supports the development of coworkers by working together and sharing knowledge
  • Engages collaboratively with the patient, family, and additional parties to fulfill nursing commitments
  • Maintaining ethical compliance is a critical requirement in all fields of practice

  • Registered Professional Nurses are mandated to provide competent care that aligns with the regulations dictated by the state and the standards set by regulatory and accrediting institutions.
  • Recognizes and follows the ethical principles specified in the Nursing Code of Ethics (ANA 2010).

Expertly incorporates applicable technology and software to:

  • Stand behind the thorough documentation and recording of nursing tasks and interactions with patients.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing or Wyoming Board of Nursing for Wyoming facilities

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
