Job Description

Essential Functions:

Utilization of the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to accomplish the subsequent responsibilities:

• Retrieves comprehensive data that is relevant to the healthcare consumer's health condition and/or circumstances.
• Assesses the evaluation data to determine the diagnosis or issues present.
• Pinpoints anticipated effects for a personalized strategy intended for the healthcare consumer.
• Constructs a proposal detailing strategies and choices to reach anticipated outcomes.
• Enacts the recognized plan and verifies the patient's advancement in alignment with the plan.
• Coordination of care involves managing the delivery of healthcare in a cohesive manner.
• Health education and health promotion incorporate techniques to foster health and uphold a safe environment.
• Through consultation, advanced practice registered nurses and nursing role specialists work towards influencing the identified plan, empowering others to enhance their abilities, and instigating change.
• Examines the headway in achieving desired outcomes.

Complies with the ANA's 2010 Standards of Professional Performance, ensuring adherence to professional norms:

• Methodically improving nursing practice to elevate its overall quality and efficiency
• Develops competence and awareness in accordance with current nursing procedures
• Reviewing one's nursing practice relative to professional standards, guidelines, and specific laws and regulations is important

• In accordance with state regulations, a Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for providing competent care that meets the prescribed standards and guidelines set forth by regulatory bodies, accrediting organizations, and state laws.
• Observes the principles mandated in the Code of Ethics for Nurses per the guidelines put forth by the American Nurses Association in 2010.

Utilizes relevant technology and software proficiently for:

• Assist in recording and facilitating nursing care and patient activities.
• Gain entry to additional work-related software necessary for being a dedicated and enthusiastic contributor to the organization, like company email services, training resources, surveys to measure staff involvement, information on benefits and compensation packages, and policies and procedures.
• Consistently strives to improve the quality of patient care by actively seeking out opportunities for innovative and creative problem-solving.
• Any other assignments as needed.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
