Job Description

Essential Functions:

Applies the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to complete the following tasks:

  • Acquires in-depth information crucial to the health or circumstances of the healthcare user.
  • Examines the evaluation results to establish the diagnosis or issues.
  • Forecasts the expected achievements for a personalized program tailored to the individual healthcare consumer.
  • Devises a course of action that suggests methods and alternatives for achieving planned objectives.
  • Puts into action the specified plan. Verifies that the patient is making progress along the plan.
  • Coordination of Care entails orchestrating the provision of healthcare services.
  • Health Teaching and Encouragement of Health - employs tactics to advance health and foster a safe atmosphere.
  • The involvement of advanced practice registered nurses and nursing role specialists in consultation is aimed at shaping the defined plan, strengthening the capacity of others, and catalyzing progress.
  • Examines the journey towards fulfilling predetermined objectives.

  • - Enhancing nursing practice systematically ensures a higher level of quality and effectiveness
  • Demonstrates expertise and familiarity that is indicative of up-to-date nursing standards
  • Examining individual nursing practice in alignment with professional standards, guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Participates in and enhances the professional progression of peers and colleagues
  • Jointly participates with patients, their families, and other parties in nursing procedures
  • Infuses ethical considerations into all realms of practice
  • Implementing research outcomes in practical settings
  • The cost implications of nursing services must also be evaluated during the planning stage to ensure that financial resources are utilized efficiently and sustainably
  • Takes charge in the professional practice scenario and the professional sphere
  • Engaging in practices that prioritize both environmental safety and personal wellness
  • Upholds the objectives, mission, and standards of Monument Health.
  • In accordance with state regulations and professional guidelines, Registered Professional Nurses are required to deliver competent care that aligns with accepted standards and ethical guidelines to meet the needs of their patients effectively.
  • Abides by the ethical principles outlined in the Code of Ethics for Nurses developed by the ANA in 2010.

Demonstrates adept use of appropriate technology and software applications:

  • Support the documentation of nursing interventions and patient care procedures.
  • Access other work-related applications necessary to be an engaged and active associate of the organization, such as company email, iLearn modules, employee engagement surveys, benefits and compensation information, and policies and procedures.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to enhance the quality of patient care by utilizing imaginative problem-solving techniques.
  • Other obligations as required by the role will be expected.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
