Job Summary:

$20,000 Sign On Bonus Available for Qualified Candidates

The Radiology Technologist has the flexibility to work in various medical settings, such as outpatient clinics or hospitals. They carry out Radiology procedures proficiently and under the guidance of a Radiologist. It is essential for the Technologist to have the capability to independently prepare the necessary examination for the Radiologist to analyze. Operating all radiology devices correctly within the appropriate conditions is a key responsibility for the Technologist. They are mandated to interact with patients in different age brackets, including children, elderly individuals, those with fevers, and individuals in critical care, adapting techniques and positions to ensure accurate examinations.

The Technologist has the responsibility of ensuring proper arrangement of the exam room, assisting with patient mobility, inputting examination details in the Radiology Information System, arranging appointments for radiology procedures, providing patients with preparatory instructions for examinations, acquiring accurate prescriptions and documentation for medical records, handling billing tasks, and coordinating with the Medical Staff upon request. The Technologist is required to acquire and uphold the necessary knowledge for the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). On occasion, the Technologist may be expected to participate in on-call responsibilities. Depending on the healthcare setting's requirements, the Technologist may need to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as instructed by the department supervisor. Any issues with equipment functionality are to be reported by the Technologist to their immediate Supervisor, maintenance personnel, or biomedical service provider as deemed suitable. They are expected to adhere to all regulations and guidelines established by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility, and the institution.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Shows a comprehensive grasp of proper patient placement techniques, essential CR/DR principles, the integration of Fluoroscopy within urgent care settings, protocols for ensuring image quality, manipulation of images, and demonstrates adeptness in organizing and coordinating their responsibilities. They may assist healthcare providers during diverse medical interventions.
  • Creates a nurturing environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborating with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and ensure the efficient functioning of the healthcare facility.

  • Consistently demonstrates effectiveness in accomplishing various intricate duties and aiding in the ongoing technical instruction of imaging personnel, doctors, and radiography students.

  • Establishing a radiologic safety culture entails diligently applying measures to mitigate radiation exposure for both patients and healthcare staff. This includes utilizing tools that limit the radiation beam, implementing practices to shield patients, understanding exposure parameters, and routinely tracking radiation levels using wearable dosimeters
  • Prioritizes patient satisfaction by efficiently and courteously scheduling appointments. Verifies accurate data collection and its correct input into the patient scheduling system. Exhibits an optimistic attitude and a focus on customer service. Engages with patients and individuals in a warm, upbeat, and encouraging fashion. Proficient in addressing patient and other inquiries while adhering to established office guidelines and procedures during face-to-face and phone interactions.
  • Skilled in securely guiding and relocating patients utilizing ceiling and analogous lifting devices.
  • Supports department organization by keeping their workspace clean, completing routine maintenance duties, replenishing supplies, and notifying supervisors of any equipment issues that arise.
  • Administers the correct amount of contrast with aseptic methods according to the guidelines in the Infection Control handbook. Precisely documents details in the patient's medical record. Demonstrates proficiency in using the injector system after completing the required training.
  • Assessing the patient's state, reviewing their medical background, and following the physician's instructions are crucial steps. Seeking guidance from a radiologist is essential when facing any doubts. Recognizing the suitable placement and choosing the accurate patient from the roster is important.
  • Consistently readies the patient and equipment for the forthcoming procedure while ensuring that the patient or their family is adequately informed about the process.
  • Being open to taking on various tasks as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies

Graduate - Radiology Program
Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Radiologic Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Radiographer Experience; Certification - Radiologic Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
