The Radiology Technologist has the flexibility to work in various medical settings, such as outpatient clinics or hospitals. They carry out Radiology procedures proficiently and under the guidance of a Radiologist. It is essential for the Technologist to have the capability to independently prepare the necessary examination for the Radiologist to analyze. Operating all radiology devices correctly within the appropriate conditions is a key responsibility for the Technologist. They are mandated to interact with patients in different age brackets, including children, elderly individuals, those with fevers, and individuals in critical care, adapting techniques and positions to ensure accurate examinations.
The Technologist has the responsibility of ensuring proper arrangement of the exam room, assisting with patient mobility, inputting examination details in the Radiology Information System, arranging appointments for radiology procedures, providing patients with preparatory instructions for examinations, acquiring accurate prescriptions and documentation for medical records, handling billing tasks, and coordinating with the Medical Staff upon request. The Technologist is required to acquire and uphold the necessary knowledge for the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). On occasion, the Technologist may be expected to participate in on-call responsibilities. Depending on the healthcare setting's requirements, the Technologist may need to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as instructed by the department supervisor. Any issues with equipment functionality are to be reported by the Technologist to their immediate Supervisor, maintenance personnel, or biomedical service provider as deemed suitable. They are expected to adhere to all regulations and guidelines established by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility, and the institution.

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
Graduate - Radiology Program
Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Radiologic Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Regarding BLS certification:
The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Radiographer Experience; Certification - Radiologic Technologist (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
