Within the outpatient services environment, Occupational Therapists are tasked with assessing and treating patients spanning various age brackets to optimize their functional abilities and autonomy, while ensuring comprehensive documentation of the interventions administered. When needed, you may also be involved in operational tasks for the Rehab Services section. Furthermore, you will be actively participating in extending occupational therapy services to outreach sites in neighboring communities, aiding in the provision of therapeutic interventions to individuals.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Displays appropriate critical thinking and discernment in delivering care services. Performs all treatment modalities according to accepted national, departmental, and evidence-based standards. Ensures that the treatment offered meets or exceeds the outcome standards set by the department.
  • - Timely and precise handling of documentation to align with departmental standards for medical necessity validation.
  • Submits essential documentation for invoicing, accurate charges, and approvals. Demonstrates effective time management following departmental productivity standards.
  • Exhibits an enterprising attitude towards individual career development. Successfully completes all required education within the Monument Health organization and for the acquisition of licensure/certification without delays. Actively supports the profession internally at Monument Health and externally in the community.
  • Supervisory practices are conducted in alignment with the stipulations established by state, federal, and recognized professional associations.
  • Engages and informs the patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, setting objectives, and creating a discharge strategy as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance, accreditation, and state and national regulatory standards.
  • Tasks and duties beyond the standard assignment.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Physical Therapy

Certification - Physical Therapist (PT) - South Dakota Board of Physical Therapy

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Physical Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
