Working as an Occupational Therapist in the outpatient services domain involves evaluating and treating individuals of different age groups to enhance their performance and self-sufficiency, with a focus on accurately documenting the care provided. Operational duties related to the Rehab Services department may also be within your scope of responsibilities. Additionally, you will be actively participating in offering occupational therapy services at outreach sites in surrounding communities, contributing to the delivery of healthcare services to a wider audience.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Exercises sound critical thinking and discernment when providing care. Executes all treatment processes in line with established national, departmental, and evidence-based regulations. Delivers treatment that complies with or exceeds the department's outcome standards.
  • - Upholding departmental norms by preparing and submitting documents accurately and promptly to confirm medical necessity.
  • Manages required paperwork for billing, precise charges, and authorizations. Displays adept time management according to departmental productivity expectations.
  • Demonstrates initiative in personal professional growth. Ensures timely completion of all education prerequisites within the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification. Actively advocates for the profession within Monument Health and externally in the community.
  • Supervision is provided in accordance with the standards outlined by state, federal, and reputable professional entities.
  • Involves and instructs the patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, goal establishment, and discharge preparation when suitable.
  • Adheres to all the rules and regulations set forth by insurance, accrediting organizations, as well as national and state regulatory bodies.
  • Any other responsibilities as deemed necessary.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Occupational Therapy

Certification - Occupational Therapist (OT) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Occupational Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
