Job Summary:

In the role of an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, the main duty involves working in partnership to provide patient care and operational functions for the unit satisfactorily. Administering occupational therapy services at outreach sites when necessary. Involvement as an essential team player in the healthcare sector by carrying out agreed tasks, specific assignments, and responsibilities you have been trained in alignment with Monument Health's policies to fulfill patient demands.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Exercises suitable critical thinking and discretion in the delivery of patient care. Implements all treatment protocols following standardized national, departmental, and evidence-based practices. Provides treatment that fulfills or exceeds departmental standards for outcomes.
  • Ensuring timely and precise completion of documents to meet departmental criteria for medical necessity.
  • Ensures the submission of mandatory paperwork for billing, precise charges, and authorizations. Displays proper time management in alignment with departmental productivity guidelines.
  • Exhibits initiative in one's own professional development. Ensures timely completion of all required education within the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification. Actively engages in promoting the profession both internally within Monument Health and externally to the community.
  • Integrates and enlightens the patient, family, and caregivers on treatment, goal setting, and discharge planning when suitable.
  • Adheres to the existing occupational therapy care protocol and communicates effectively with the primary occupational therapist regarding any necessary revisions or concerns with the plan.
  • Perform all tasks as delegated.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Occupational TherapyCertification - Occupational Therapist (OT) - South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Occupational Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
