Your role as a Physical Therapist Assistant within outpatient services centers on delivering hands-on care to patients of various age ranges, adhering to the prescribed policy and procedure guidelines for documenting all aspects of patient care. Additionally, you will be involved in supporting the operational functions of the Rehab Services Department and assisting in the provision of physical therapy services at external sites across neighboring communities.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Displays appropriate critical thinking and judgement in dispensing care. Conducts all treatment methods based on established national, institutional, and evidence-backed criteria. Provides therapy meeting or exceeding departmental outcome benchmarks.
  • Meeting departmental guidelines by generating and furnishing documentation promptly and accurately to validate medical necessity.
  • - Displays effective time management skills by meeting departmental productivity expectations.
  • Exhibits drive in individual professional development. Successfully completes all required education within the Monument Health system and for licensure/certification in a timely fashion. Actively markets the profession within Monument Health and to the wider community.
  • Engages and enlightens patients, their families, and caregivers regarding treatment, setting goals, and organizing discharge plans as needed.
  • - Adheres to the designated physical therapy treatment regimen and communicates with the primary physical therapist regarding any modifications or concerns in the treatment plan.
  • Adheres to the necessary standards in insurance, accreditation, and regulations at both national and state levels.
  • Miscellaneous assignments as delegated.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Bachelors: Physical Therapy

Certification - Physical Therapist (PT) - South Dakota Board of Physical Therapy

Preferred:

Education - Masters: Physical Therapy

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
