Job Summary:

**UP TO $20,000 SIGN ON BONUS FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES**

In a Level II trauma hospital setting, the CT Technologist is responsible for performing Computed Tomography scans under the supervision of a Radiologist. One crucial aspect of the role is to independently identify the appropriate exam for the Radiologist's review and to proficiently operate all CT equipment in the appropriate environment. This position entails working with patients of varying age groups, including pediatric, geriatric, febrile, and critically ill individuals, and adjusting techniques and positioning as necessary to ensure optimal imaging results.

The CT Technologist will be responsible for meeting the needs of outpatients, inpatients, and emergency department patients in a high-volume, Level II hospital, treating a range of patients including ambulatory, non-ambulatory, acute and chronically ill, trauma, and stroke patients. Duties include preparing exam rooms, transporting patients, entering exams into the Radiology Information System, scheduling CT exams, educating patients on exam preparation, ensuring correct orders and paperwork for records and billing, and communicating with medical staff as needed. The CT Technologist will maintain proficiency in PACS and will be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by the department leader. Additionally, the technologist will report any equipment malfunctions or failures to their immediate supervisor, maintenance staff, or bio-med services as necessary. The CT Technologist must adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Medical Imaging Department, the facility, and the organization.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibits expertise in patient positioning, CT radiation exposure principles, quality assurance measures, image reconstruction techniques, and specialized protocols within a Level II trauma hospital context. This covers specialized procedures including TAVR, perfusion studies, Cardiac CTA, AFIB angiograms, and complex trauma situations and angiograms. Demonstrates proficiency in patient prioritization, task planning, assisting physicians, and nurturing a supportive learning environment.
  • Radiology technologists at Monument Health play a key role in mentoring and guiding students as they progress through their clinical rotations.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff by complying with infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Higher exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common in a level II hospital environment.
  • Focuses on patient satisfaction by scheduling appointments promptly and courteously. Obtains accurate information and properly documents on patient scheduling system. Has positive attitude and customer service mind set. Friendly, cheerful and helpful to patients and others. Ability to meet patients and others needs while following office policies and procedures in person and on the telephone.
  • Experienced in employing a variety of lifting tools, such as ceiling and other lifts, to transfer and transport patients securely.
  • - Records relevant information correctly in the patient's medical file following standard procedures.
  • Nurtures and preserves teamwork in the group. Demonstrates an openness to acquiring fresh protocols and embracing additional tasks. Shows up promptly and prepared for the assigned work hours.
  • Documents necessary information within the medical records of patients.
  • Takes part in departmental maintenance by keeping the work area neat, conducting preventive maintenance measures, restocking supplies, and reporting any faulty equipment.
  • Verifies the accurate billing of both the procedure and its necessary items.
  • Reviews the patients status, medical background, and instructions from the physician; consults the radiologist for any clarifications. Determines the correct placement and selects the appropriate patient from the roster.
  • Delivers top-quality images to assist radiologists in their work.
  • Systematically prepares both the patient and equipment for the forthcoming procedure. Educates the patient and/or their family about the procedure that will be performed. Provides professional and age-specific interactions with patients.
  • Skilled in navigating essential computer applications (such as PACs, RIS, Vrad) and proficient in manual downtime protocols.
  • Duties outside the regular scope.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies

Graduate - Radiology Program

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer​; (ARRT)(R) (CT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with advanced certification in Cat Scan or completion of CT Registry within 12 months of hire.

Regarding BLS certification:

The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.

Preferred:

Education - Associates: Related Field

Experience - 1+ years of Customer Service Experience; 1+ years of Radiographer Experience

**Policy Number: MIS-7040-115 - Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.

Physical Requirements:

Very heavy work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
