In the inpatient services setting, as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, your primary role involves delivering hands-on care to individuals spanning all age groups, from newborns to the elderly, with the aim of improving their physical well-being and functional capacities. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing various tasks to support the smooth functioning of the Rehabilitation Services Department when required.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates suitable critical thinking and evaluation skills in delivering care. Executes all elements of therapy following recognized national, institutional, and evidence-supported guidelines. Delivers therapy that aligns with or surpasses departmental performance benchmarks.
  • Producing paperwork promptly and accurately to justify medical requirement following department guidelines.
  • Submits necessary documents for invoicing, ensuring precise fees and approvals are included.
  • Shows proactive behavior in personal career growth. Finishes all necessary training mandated by Monument Health and for obtaining licensure/certification promptly. Actively advocates for the field both within Monument Health and to the broader community.
  • Involves and instructs the patient, family, and caregivers in treatment, goal establishment, and planning for discharge as necessary.
  • Adheres to the approved occupational therapy treatment regimen and works closely with the main occupational therapist regarding any alterations or concerns with the treatment plan.
  • Ensures adherence to all insurance regulations, accreditation standards, and federal and state regulatory guidelines.
  • Fulfilling additional tasks as required.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Education - Associates degree or equivalent OR graduate of accredited program for Occupational Therapist Assistant
Certification - Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT)
Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Related Experience
Certification - Licensure through SDBMOE - Accredited University or accredited training professionals

Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
